We are in the hub of Waipu Center, a quiet rural country village with an interesting Scottish history and boasts a beach that can rival the best in the world. I mentioned quiet, its quickly expanding at a rapid pace, the draw card being the location, the view, the landscape and the warm climate and most importantly, the people who have a wider and open accepting view of the world and visitors that come here.
From Auckland, its a one and half hours drive, plus or minus 10 minutes, subject to time of the day, traffic and route of direction and the speed you drive to get here. I recommend the longer route thru Orewa beach and township. The view is more interesting, and maybe stopover at Waiwera Hot Pools to cool down or Wenderholme Park for lunch or a rest.. Otherwise take the new tunnel road thru to Puhoi and pay the $2:00 fee at the entrance just to smell the fumes.
"The Brenderwyns" is a remarkable mountain range landmark. They say when you arrive at the top, and looking down on to the Bream Bay landcape and horizon, all your worries and problems fall and melts away. Definitely make a stop here and take in the view, and embrace it, welcome to Paradise you will love it.
Welcome to the north, to Bream Bay, Waipu, my home town. From the north Whangarei direction its a simple thirty minutes drive. You can locate us on Google Map by clicking here.
